Work has already started by T Cribb & Sons on
the construction of two ambitious projects on the Beckton site
- The National Funeral Museum and the T Cribb & Sons Education
Centre.
When it is completed in 2003, the Museum will
not only house the UK's definitive collection of funeral and
memorial artefacts, but will also provide a library and reference
facilities.
Equally as bold is the company's vision for the
Education Centre - which by 2004 will be attracting students
from across the UK and Europe.
To achieve this, the company can now offer full
lecture facilities and a function suite to deliver a range of
courses and training programmes.
Among the courses will be:
run courses to further skills and promote
high standards.
teach bereavement counselling
extend courses for palliative care groups.
promote links with local schools, colleges
and University of East London to raise awareness and alleviate
the taboos about death
"We do not see our
role as beginning and ending with the funeral itself. We also
have a responsibility to the families who need support and sympathetic
treatment at the time of their bereavement."
